The Power of a Bright Smile: Give Kids a Smile®.

Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children's Dental Health Month (NCDHM) to help raise awareness among families and policy makers about the importance of good oral health habits. By encouraging healthy routines at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits, children can experience a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

Colgate is delighted to partner with the ADA to provide education along with preventive and restorative care to low-income children who do not have access to dental care. For the 10th annual Give Kids A Smile Day® (Friday, February 3, 2010), Colgate will supply toothbrushes and toothpaste to participants nationwide. The Power of a Bright Smile: Partnering with the National Dental Association to Improve Children's Oral Health in the U.S.

Colgate’s commitment to improve children’s oral health in the community includes a longterm partnership with the National Dental Association (NDA), the world’s largest minority oral health association.

As part of the partnership, Colgate provides scholarships to African American dental students, research grants to historical African American dental schools, and develops communication programs for NDA members and their patients on relevant oral health topics. In addition, NDA members actively participate in Colgate's Bright Smiles, Bright Futures program, serving as volunteer dentists on the mobile dental vans that screen children in underserved communities for cavities and other signs of oral disease. The volunteers share their experiences working with children in the community and parents share the impact Bright Smiles, Bright Futures is having on their families.

Colgate partnership with Walmart brings Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® to more children in need.

Colgate has partnered with Walmart to create "Building Smiles Together™," a new initiative to help combat rising cavity rates among children by providing free oral health education and dental screenings at Walmart stores.

As part of the partnership, Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® mobile dental vans will visit more than 230 Walmart stores this year to provide free dental screenings and treatment referrals to children in need.

"Building Smiles Together™" recently kicked off in Dallas with an event featuring All-Star third baseman Adrian Beltre, who helped "strike out" cavities by promoting healthy habits among hundreds of local YMCA campers.
