Tooth Avulsion

Tooth avulsion occurs when a tooth has been traumatically displaced from its normal position in the mouth due to a blow to the mouth or a dental injury. It is also referred to as tooth luxation. When avulsion occurs, it is very important to consult a dentist to determine if the tooth (primary or permanent) should be put back into place so that the periodontal ligament (fibers that attach to the tooth to support it in place) can reattach to the tooth. An avulsed tooth results in necrosis (dying) of the pulp tissue in the tooth.  |  |  Legal/Privacy  | Site Map  |  Contact Us
