FROM A HOSPITAL VOLUNTEER:
I wanted to let you know that I am a volunteer for a children’s unit. One of the things I offer the children that are in the hospital is the Fun Center unit that was donated by the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation. Each time I wheel that unit into the child’s room, it just makes their day. I believe there are only 2 of these units at the hospital and they are frequently used by the children.
It’s amazing that something that might seem a little trivial to us (movies/games) can absolutely make a child’s day that is in the hospital. I just wanted to let you know that your generosity is appreciated in more ways than you can imagine.
Please keep up your good work in blessing the children. In turn, they have a funny way of blessing us.
FROM A MOTHER:
My 8-year old angel, had a severe asthma attack and was hospitalized for four days. He was hooked up to an IV and heart monitors. Every time he moved and one of the monitors moved an alarm sounded – all day and all night. There was little he could do beyond looking at a tiny TV. Your Fun Center was a huge help. I wanted to thank you for that.
FROM A NURSE IN MAINE:
Once again I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation. On behalf of the pediatric nursing staff and our patients, I would like to wholeheartedly thank you and all the folks behind the scenes at Starlight Starbright for the fun centers, wagons, bears and gifts that you have provided over the years.
The new fun center is a huge hit!! The first person who used it was an 18 year old, very bored patient with injuries that kept him confined to the bed. I gave him the job of test piloting the new system. He gave it rave reviews, as did his Mother. She asked me to express her gratitude to the Starlight Children's Foundation for providing such wonderful distraction for her son and other hospitalized children. We got the Radio Flyer wagon this week and can't wait to use it!! I am sure it too will receive rave reviews! The drink holders are too cool!!
FROM A NURSE AND CHILD LIFE SPECIALIST:
We are thrilled with the Fun Center that you donated to the pediatric floor. Our patients immediately see it and our entranced. This morning a six year-old patient who has had problems with breathing treatments allowed the respiratory therapist to complete his treatment while he was using the Fun Center. He truly did not notice the therapist or breathing mask! 'Thank you so much for your generosity and for all of the time and effort put into making this happen for the patients here...your ongoing support has made a genuine difference.
