I joined Colgate because I desired a career in manufacturing. I wanted to work for a consumer products company where I could see the products on the shelves. I also was attracted to the Colgate culture which I would describe as people-oriented and flexible.
I am currently the Director of Worldwide Quality at Hill's Pet Nutrition, but have worked most of my career in the Supply Chain cross-divisionally and cross-categorically.
What I like most about working at Colgate is the flexibility to develop cross functionally and work with multiple cultures around the world.
Through multiple informal mentors and opportunities to receive both formalized and job exposure leadership training, I truly feel I have developed a style which helps me to be successful as a leader. Exposure to global communities and cultures truly develops you as a person and a leader.
My most exciting opportunities have been to lead cross-functional teams driving strategic change (e.g. moving to the Global Supply Chain model).
The most important lesson I have learned to be a successful leader is to foster, motivate and develop your team. You are successful if your team is successful.
I would recommend a career with Colgate because it has a terrific balance of having a winning attitude and at the same time developing people to be successful.
