One tip is when you use hot water make sure to run your cold water when your all done. This way when a child goes to use the sink after you, the water coming out is not still hot. Only takes a second and keeps little ones from getting hurt. (You should turn the water tempature down, but if your in someone elses home that isn't always possible).

Keep the lid down on the toilet. This keeps things from accidently being dropped in. And keeps germs down (in comparison to flushing with the lid up). We have done this since I was pregnant with my oldest who is 10; it is such a habit for my family we are guilty of doing it at other people's houses. All three of my children do it also.

My grandson wanted to hear about bed time routines from people other than his mom or me. We had a "Blue's Clues" DVD where Joe sang about the things you need to do before going to bed. It was nice to be able to sing the song when he protested brushing his teeth or using the potty.

Keep a routine. Kids do better when they know what to expect next. I.E., Bedtime the same time (yes there are "special" nights), dinner time, etc.

Having a routine, starting at an early time, not too late, but sometimes having something different in the routine, ie bath, brush teeth, read, maybe recite a verse together and then have a prayer before bedtime, usually helps my young ones that have bad dreams stay away.
