What do I do if I develop a rash from using this?
As with any product, there is always the possibility that a person may be sensitive to one or more of the ingredients, which may manifest itself in a rash on the site of contact. Should you experience this, discontinuing use of the product, in most cases, will alleviate the symptoms. Should that not be the case, please seek medical attention. I heard that there is an aluminum ingredient in antiperspirants that's been linked to Alzheimer's disease. Is this true?
Speed Stick® antiperspirants are safe. In addition to our own stringent safety standards, Speed Stick® products meet all applicable regulations and guidelines of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, European Union and governmental bodies around the world. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of all our products. A review of current research on the subject has found no evidence of a proven link indicating aluminum as the causative agent of Alzheimer's disease. In fact, according to an official at the National Institute on Aging, "There are currently more researchers who have decided that the metal is innocuous than those who consider it a threat." Aluminum, the third most common element on the earth, is essentially found everywhere. Even our daily diet has some aluminum in it. In fact, both a Food and Drug Administration food study and recent information from the Department of Health and Human Services showed that we consume approximately 7-9 mg of aluminum per day in foods such as tea or baked goods made with baking powder. Health remedies such as antacids, buffered aspirin and vaccines also contain aluminum. These are drug products that have been reviewed by the FDA and deemed to be safe and effective. The FDA also recognizes that the amount of aluminum from antiperspirants that might be absorbed through the skin is insignificant.
Can I use this product on other areas of the body?
Speed Stick® products are for underarm use only.
Are the containers recyclable?
All of our antiperspirants and deodorants are packaged in polypropylene, polystyrene or PET packaging. Since they are made of mixed materials, they are not recyclable. Currently it is necessary to use these mixed plastics since the container is exposed to extreme temperatures during the manufacturing process. However, our engineers have an ongoing commitment to make our packaging materials more environmentally friendly.
I have a Speed Stick® Gel and I can't seem to get the product to come out with a few clicks. Am I doing something wrong?
Gels may settle during shipment and develop an air pocket so it may take multiple clicks to get the product started. You may have to click as many as 20 times to get the product started.
When can my child start using these products?
The age at which a child can start using these products will vary. Children do not typically have a need to use an antiperspirant product until they start perspiring, which will be around puberty.
What is the shelf life of your products?
All of our products are tested for a shelf life of two years from the date of manufacture; however, we do recommend using the product within one year of opening it to guarantee freshness and efficacy.
Do you send coupons?
Speed Stick coupons are periodically offered on the website. Be sure to visit often, since these special offers are always changing. We do not maintain a mailing list for distribution of samples or coupons. Our cents-off coupons are available in newspapers and magazines, and both coupons and samples are occasionally distributed through periodic mass mailings. We hope you will watch for these.
