Teach Kids Dental Care: Easy And Fun Art Projects

What better way to teach kids dental care than by doing art projects? These fun activities will engage your children in a creative activity and help them learn that dental care can be fun. Bold colors and interesting tactile experiences can engage children in learning about good oral hygiene.

Some children are already fascinated by brushing their teeth. Kids can be very engaged in the process of trying new toothpastes, such as Colgate® 2 in 1 Toothpaste and Mouthwash, and watching themselves in the mirror while brushing. These art projects will get kids even more excited about oral hygiene.

Paint Your Teeth! *Ages 5–8

As the paint dries, talk to your kids about using toothpaste and brushing their teeth. Explain that cavities and decay can form. Point to the dark spots on the painting. This picture is a great visual example of what happens to teeth if we neglect to brush or properly take care of them.

After the first layer of paint has dried, use more white paint to fill in the teeth so no black shows through. Discuss the benefits of good dental care and encourage kids to keep the picture to remind them to brush every morning and night.

For a sunny alternative, use sidewalk chalk. Bring a hand mirror outside and have children use white chalk to draw their teeth. A blacktop area works best for this version of the project. Snap a photo of the drawing that children can use as a brushing reminder.

Practice Flossing *Ages 6–9

Children's dental care is an important part of their overall health. Teach kids dental care by using these engaging art projects to show that taking care of their teeth is necessary for a great smile.
